Biograft Transplant Services, Inc. is a Houston based tissue recovery organization dedicated to serving donors and their families by perpetuating the circle of life. BTSI recovers tissues and provides them to leading tissue processing companies. We are dedicated to educating families during their most difficult time to understand the process of donation fully and the life changing impact it has on others.
About the Executive Director
Mark Anthony Thomas, CTBS
Tony Thomas started in the tissue industry in 1987. After years of formal training from a national tissue bank and the local organ procurement organization he then became a Certified Tissue Bank Specialist in 1990. In 1992 Mr. Thomas formed Biograft Transplant Services, Inc. with the intention of providing the local medical community and donor families the option to donate the gift of life through tissue transplantation.
Prior to his career in tissue donation Mr. Thomas worked as a Pathology Assistant in Chicago and Houston. He has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer since 1978 to present working in Chicago and Houston in the funeral home industry. Due to his commitment and conviction he has also been an employee of The Lion’s Eye Bank at Baylor College of Medicine as an eye bank technician since 1995 to present.
His background in these industries has lead him to appreciate the sensitive needs of families and their stages of grief. Mr. Thomas’ belief that tissue donation can give families a positive outlook by extending or saving lives through the option of tissue donation has remained resolute since Biograft’s inception.
